“...a polished debut...[There] is little doubt that the most marked footprints Press leaves are pressed in poetry.” — Quill & Quire
Poems from the book
One poem from this book I published at the dawn of online literary magazines in the ‘90s! (With bonus poem not in the book.) I also chose two poems from the book in this pandemic-era reading. The book is about my grandfather’s settler story, and since it covers the Spanish Flu of 1919, I thought it was apt.
Awards
The book’s designer, Zab Design and Typography (EA Hobart) won an Alcuin Citation for book design.
Design
I’ve been lucky with beautifully designed books throughout my career, and this one started it all. Designed by Zab, printed at the Coach House, custom coloured fly leaves, Kraft-paper-brown pages. The cover art is by Dan Bazuin.
